Thanks for checking us out. Actually, have been to The Machrie-- one of my favorites in Scotland, with some of my favorite distilleries nearby. I agree this is one of the best trips possible, and one that very few Americans take. Also loved Machrihanish nearby . . .

Cheers, my friend . . .

Jeff,
I came across your article in the US Airways magazine on Scotch and Golf and then to your sites here. I really like all of them. Might I humbly suggest a MUST trip the next time you are over the pond. If you really enjoy missing links, real Scots, Scotch and the untouched by tourists... You must visit and play on the isle of Islay!! It is the home of the finest single malts, Bowmore etc. and the best representative of links golf that I have found; the Machrie. The Machrie holds 17 blind shots over towering dunes and aiming posts at the end of a perfectly good fairway to a hidden green below a 40 foot dune!!! I have an excellent photo album of the day my brother-in-law spent on the island that I know you will enjoy...Golf, Peat bogs and a Very Private Whiskey tasting drawn from the actual casks! So here's to the untouched raw cure for the Agusta syndrome that haunts those who travel to Scotland only to "check-off" rota courses without meeting a sole outside thier group and the caddies they hire.... All the best and keeping your ball where the sheep eat... Joe
